More pictures from Sicily!
Taken on one of our bus rides through the Sicilian countryside - wish I remembered where!
DonnaFranca vineyards - we had an amazing buffet lunch here.
Salt pans in Trapani, near Marsala, where salt is harvested.
Greek theater in Siracusa. We saw Ajax by Sophocles performed in Italian. The theater itself was beautiful; the sun set behind us during the performance and the set and costumes were amazing!

Another Greek theater, this one in Taormina, a town up on a hill on the East coast of Sicily.

Another shot of the view - that's Mount Etna out there.

The clock tower in Messina - the biggest clock tower with moving parts in the world. (I think it was a gift from Switzerland.) Every day at noon, the lion at the top roars and strikes a bell, the rooster crows and flaps its wings, and saints and apostles circle a statue of Mary while Ave Maria plays.
You could climb up to the top of the bell tower and see mainland Italy across the Straits of Messina, Reggio-Calabria to be exact. On the climb up the tower you could also see the gears and statues of the clock up close. This is me and my aunt at the tower balcony.
